Museum Of The Henryological Studies
Welcome!

Introduction
Welcome to the MOTHS -- the Museum Of The Henryological Studies! This is an online museum dedicated to Henry Ledore, one of the principal characters in Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask, whom LE, the museum's founder, has a profound connection to. The museum's main exhibit is LE's Henryology Project, which serves as a foundation for Henryological study as a whole: many other exhibits were made as part of the process of completing the project. LE sincerely hopes that you enjoy scrolling through the museum's digital halls and perusing its exhibits -- and that, perhaps, you will come away from the MOTHS with a greater appreciation for and understanding of Henry's complex, fascinating character.
Definitions
What is Henryology?
Henryology, according to LE, is the study of Henry Ledore: his experiences, relationships, motivations, and personality. While aiming to be an objective science (of sorts), itis infused with personal psychological details relevant to LE, and as such it should be viewed also as a subjective art. It is LE's intimate, dynamic interpretation of Henry's character.
What is Familial RanHen?
Familial RanHen, according to LE, is a term used to describe Randall Ascot and Henry Ledore's non-romantic, loving relationship: more specifically, it refers to their status as surrogate brothers, a status stated by the canon as well as sources such as Wikipedia. LE chose to co-opt the term "RanHen" -- referring to the romantic reading of their relationship popular in fandom spaces -- while qualifying it as familial, to emphasize that the love between Randall and Henry is as strong as proponents of RanHen suggest, but that this love is brotherly. This familial relationship is central to Henryology.
What is the Henryology Project?
The Henryology Project, started in June 2025 and finished in December 2025, is LE's self-proclaimed magnum opus in the Professor Layton fandom space: it is a painstakingly thorough documentation and analysis of Henry Ledore which incorporates psychological and symbolic elements in its interpretations. The process of organizing and writing it was arduous for LE, who had to take a mental health break during the latter half of the analysis stage from the end of August 2025 to the end of November 2025. It is a labor of love.
What is thematic expansion?
Thematic Expansion is LE's philosophy of interpreting canon: meaningful, genuine readings, according to this philosophy, are those which
-
do not explicitly contradict canon, and which
-
connect to, highlight, and explore themes already present in canon, even (or especially) if this involves the introduction of elements not already present in canon.
Who is LE?
LE (pronounced "Ellie"), or the "Ledore Expert", is a young adult whose first and favorite Professor Layton game is Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask, which they completed in 2020; they properly entered the Layton community on Tumblr by the start of 2025, where they have since been known for their drawings, fanfiction, songs, and analyses, almost all of which centered around Henry Ledore. They strongly relate to Henry, which informs their interpretation of him.
